We are looking for an experienced Financial Controller to oversee our company's accounting operations. The Financial Controller will be responsible for preparing financial reports and to supervise the general accounting and A/P team. The ideal candidate should have excellent analytical skills, strong attention to detail, and a deep understanding of financial accounting principles.
Responsibilities:
- Cash management for large number of Canadian and US accounts
- Review and verify General Ledger transactions to support a complete and accurate Trial Balance
- Perform complex balance sheet reconciliations (including inter-company)
- Develop and maintain accounting policies and procedures to ensure compliance with local, state, provincial, and federal regulations.
- Prepare monthly financial statements and reports
- Prepare year-end working papers
- Supervise and mentor accounting staff, providing guidance and training as necessary.
- Continuously evaluate and improve financial systems, processes, and procedures to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA or CMA certification is a plus.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in financial accounting, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and financial accounting principles.
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written skills
- Experience with accounting software and proficient in EXCEL
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across departments and with external partners.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to mentor and develop staff.
