Do carriers really need CARM?

In nearly every case, carriers must register in the CARM Client Portal. CARM is, foundationally, how commercial entities interact financially with the CBSA. Any financial process a carrier has previously done through some other means must now go through the CARM Client Portal - including the registration of carrier numbers and the acquisition and posting of bonds.

What kind of bond will I need?

There are two kinds of bonds that carriers can use in the CARM Client Portal: cash bonds and a Transportation of Goods bond. The exact amount needed for each bond depends on your mode of transport.

I don’t know where to begin.

The best place to start your CARM registration journey is on your CARM Insights page. It is the best place to get step-by-step guides, access to our many CARM-related services, and troubleshooting assistance.
