On October 17, 2025, the Canadian Government once again updated the US Surtax Remission Order, extending the duration of the remission for certain goods and industries by an additional two months. 

Industries affected by this extension include;

• The exemption for US goods used in manufacturing, processing, or food and beverage packaging now includes goods used in agricultural production.
• The temporary exemption from tariffs on US goods is used to support public healthcare, health care, public safety, and national security objectives
• Additional considerations and relief on tariffs on imports from the US and China have been extended to companies that qualify within strict conditions, such as short supply or existing contractual obligations. 

These extensions put the expiration date of the current US Surtax Remission Order at December 15, 2025, meaning any goods imported into Canada before December 16 will still qualify for these remissions.
