In an Order in Council released on August 29, 2025, the Canadian Government detailed several key changes to its current in-effect tariffs, including the repealing of the US Surtax Order (2025-1) and a number of changes to the US steel and aluminum surtax. 

Effective September 1st, 2025, the US Surtax Order will be fully repealed, effectively reverting to the system that existed prior to its implementation in March of 2025. Notably, goods imported before September 1st will be surtaxed at the existing rate.
