On July 16, 2025, the Canadian Government released an updated version of its US Surtax Remission Order, a document detailing schedules of goods that can qualify for a remission on tariffs paid on goods imported from the US. It also details a few minor additions to the China Surtax Remission Order.

The additions to this list are sweeping, including new considerations for certain grains, metals, wood, electronics, vehicles, lighting, wires, and refrigeration units.

It is a significant update to what was previously established, so all importers of US goods, even those who have previously investigated receiving remissions, are highly encouraged to consult this updated document or discuss its contents with their broker to determine if their goods can qualify for a remission. 

Notably, this update features only additions to the list, with no goods having been removed as of yet.
