Trade Regulation Updates

Reminder: Dairy & Meat Import Permissions Expire March 31st, 2019

March 27, 2019

On March 31st, 2019, dairy and meat permissions extended to importers will expire. Importers operating under these permits are required to register for a Safe Food For Canadians Licence with the Canadain Food Inspection Agency. According to the CFIA bulletins received this week:

"Upon expiration of a current CFIA [meat or dairy] permission (March 31,  2019), continuing to trade in import, export or interprovincial trade  without an SFC licence contravenes the Safe Food for Canadians Act and  its Regulations, and may result in enforcement actions by the CFIA."

You can register for a Safe Food For Canadian Licence by visiting the CFIA website.
