Attention Clients: Update On Import Requirements For Chinese Yams

To Our Valued Clients, 

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has recently updated the import requirements for Chinese Yams of the species dioscorea polystachya entering Canada for Human Consumption and further processing from the United States to be Refused Entry. Importation from other countries such as China, Mexico and Vietnam are also refused entry into Canada.

Dioscorea polystachya is regulated as an invasive plant. The importation of regulated plants and their propagative parts is prohibited.   

We highly recommend you consult the CFIA’s Automated Import Reference Tool, AIRS, or contact CFIA National Import Service Center at 1-800-835-4486 prior to purchasing and having these yams shipped to Canada.
