Trade Regulation Updates

Canadian Food Inspection Agency’s (CFIA) National Import Service Centre (NISC) Will Be Experiencing a Complete Outage of Several of Its Vital Systems

October 25, 2023

From noon on Oct. 28 to 4:00 a.m. on Oct. 30, 2023, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) will be experiencing a complete outage of several of its vital systems. This outage means there will be extended delays at ports of crossing for the duration of this outage. The following actions are highly recommended for importers during this time:

  1. Avoid crossing during this outage window entirely if it is feasible to do so.
  2. If you cannot, we encourage you to get your documentation to us for processing by noon on Friday, October 27th - before the CFIA system outage.
  3. If you do not get your documentation in on time, we will still process you, but due to the analog nature of this process during the outage, expect significant and unavoidable delays in your crossing.

This is a CFIA outage for which we have no control or input, but we can get through it with some preparation and forward-thinking.

Thank you for your patience at this time.
