Deltaport & Vanterm Plan To Suspend Terminal Operations Beginning September 7th 2018

September 5, 2018

If you are shipping ocean freight to GCT Deltaport or GCT Vanterm you will need to start making contingency plans now.

“Significant gaps” are dividing GCT Canada, and the Planners and Planning Assistants in their first meeting for a new agreement. As of now, the Planners and Planner Assistants have informed the Federal Minister of Labour they will be going on strike starting September 7th, 2018. GCT has informed those who rely on their terminal service GCT will have no choice but to suspend its operations at 12:01am on September 7th, 2018.

Hopefully the two sides will be able to come to an agreement shortly where you will not have to take contingency plans to get your goods where they need to go. However, with the 72-hour deadline approaching fast it is vital for you to start planning your contingency incase the strike indeed takes place.

If you need assistance with your contingency plan, please feel free to contact our experts to ensure your freight arrives safe and sound.
